Our Process

INTENTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

When you read our approach and beliefs, you may get the impression that we are counselors versus consultants.  While we definitely apply principles from our background in counseling and education to our practice, we also believe that you must take a systemic approach to change … if you are going to achieve systemic change.  Emporia Group has defined a very specific process that ensures continuous growth for you as the leader and will continue to bring value.

Our process includes a combination of direct client interaction in the form of monthly meetings and assessments;  follow-up and accountability through touchbases, emails and homework; and practical application to your business followed by evaluation, feedback and adjustment.

KEY COMPONENTS OF OUR PROCESS

TIME

Emporia Group recommends a 6-12 month commitment for each client engagement.

Your organization didn’t get where it is today in a few short months and you cannot expect to achieve systemic change to happen after a handful of meetings.

  • We follow a cadence of meeting, follow-up, homework and application that leads to a change in mindsets and habits; followed by cultural behaviors; and ultimately, cultural transformation.
  • Clients should plan to invest at least one full day per month into this process.  While this time will include coaching, development and strategizing, much of the hard work will happen outside of these sessions.
  • A key area that we will address early in our engagement are time allocation goals based on your desired outcomes.  Depending on your business demands, this may look like a few minutes per day or a few hours per week.

MILESTONES

We establish benchmarks, set goals and check on progress along the way.

A complete understanding of your challenges and vision will inform how we will work with you over the course of our partnership.

  • Before we get started, we will do a full set of assessments along with a deep dive into your infrastructure and people to construct a 360-degree view of the organization and leadership.
  • This part of the process often reveals many things you already know, but it can also uncover a combination of intangible threats and unrealized opportunities.
  • From there we will set goals and determine milestones along the way.
  • Many of these milestones include practical application of what we are working on together.
  • This is followed by evaluation, feedback and adjustments for better results next time.

SUBJECT-MATTER EXPERTS

Our services often extended beyond collaboration to mediation and representation.

Our experience in business allows us to ask questions, work on creative solutions, and establish a solid foundation to support your long-term goals.

Because we dig into many critical areas of your business, we find that many of our clients need specialized services in the areas of:  accounting, legal, insurance, human resources and/or technology.

  • We can work as a representative on your behalf to communicate specific needs to an existing, trusted partner; or identify and vet a new provider.
  • A key role we play for our clients is mediator.  Whether with a service provider or to navigate a sensitive internal discussion.
